The Malt District – Coppins Corner (Stage 1)

Name:

The Malt District – Coppins Corner (Stage 1)

Stakeholders:

Caydon Property, Fender Katsalidis, Probuild, The Richstone Group

Location:

2-8 Gough Street, Cremorne, VIC 3121

Property / Development type:

Mixed-use residential and commercial development

Property Description:

Stage One of the development, known as Coppins Corner — a historical reference to 1850s Richmond and Cremorne identity George Coppin — includes a split-level tower of 15 and 12 storeys, featuring 209 one, two, and three-bedroom and SoHo-style apartments, with retail and hospitality located on the lower levels.

Reason you were engaged:

Heelguard was engaged by the hydraulic sub-contractor, The Richstone Group. The ability to service design, budget and supply requirements secured Heelguard Grating the project.

Initial Assessment:

Heelguard Grating was easily accepted as an alternative product by both Probuild and Fender Katsalidis due to our ability to meet all aesthetic and functionality aspects.

Description of work performed:

Heelguard’s Click Drain 100 & 200 Series was the product of choice for this project, installed in both paved pedestrian and trafficable areas. The area offers incredible walkability and panoramic city and river views. Incorporating both Discreet Slot Drain and Anti-Slip Heelguard grating over the total 200 lineal meters supplied.

Considerations:

Bound by Punt Road, Church and Swan Streets and the Yarra River, The Malt District creates a new destination in the heart of Cremorne. A collection of restaurants and cafes line the generously designed public spaces, bringing life to the 24-hour precinct. Surface water management, Australian Standards conformance and product durability were critical aspects of the design, and Heelguard was able to deliver on these requirements while maintaining the all-round design intent.

Client / Stakeholder Feedback:

The Richstone Group, with both the supply and install contract, gave glowing feedback regarding the ease of installation of Click Drain. The modular nature of the product, along with standard T-section and corner pieces, eliminated the need for any onsite modifications to grating. Having installed other products on the market, the difference for them was significant.

Future Recommendations:

With the approval of Stage 2 works, Heelguard recommends maintaining the same quality of product throughout the public spaces.

Cost Benefits:

Longevity and quality are critical elements to pedestrian and trafficable grating. Making the right choice is important. Click Drain is an Australian Made product built to Australian Standards in both quality and functionality.

  • Exciting project for Heelguard to be involved in
