Property Description:
The 271 million dollar stage 3 development included a new 5,000 seat multi-purpose Show Court Arena (Kia Arena), Centrepiece, a new 1,000 seat function and media centre with function rooms, pre-event spaces, interview rooms, a 250-seat auditorium, and broadcast studios. The works also added a central logistics hub including a kitchen and loading dock.

Description of work performed:
Heelguard supplied drainage systems to almost every part of this stage 3 development. A major focus being on full perimeter drainage using Click Drain 200 Series for the new Kia Arena, zero threshold trench grates to all concession doors and public entries, trench grates to the open air terrace at Centrepiece and to pedestrian access ramps. Ideal Drain and Flexi Drain were also installed.
Considerations:
This iconic Melbourne venue, home to the Australian Open required an emphasis on compliance to Australian Standards for both access & mobility and slip resistance whist not compromising on design aesthetics.
Completion:
The project reached practical completion in August 2021, in time for the Australian Open.
